The morning was a bizarre, weird experience. I did the Mancow show. It’s a combination of Sean Hannity and Howard Stern, with an emphasis on the Stern side of the equation. At one point, he said to me, “I bet its not like this on public radio.” No kidding. However, I have to say that for the short time I was on the show he treated me with respect and asked good questions.
The book event was held at the Harris Trust Bank in Winnetka. It was sponsored by the Book Stall, and independent bookstore. As always, the crowd was wonderful. At one point someone asked the question that always comes up: If more and more people live the New Frugality, where will the jobs come from? I talked about the rise of jobs like yoga instructor, something that was a sideline 20 years ago and has evolved into a career today. When I was signing books a woman came up to me and said she had been for years with Merrill Lynch in its lending to small business division. She had made a career change–and was now a yoga instructor.
